45 The Iron Chain of
Hjalgrimmer
Sometimes the fates can form a wall and then
Put you to face it. Climbing takes too long
To `scape, and running would disgrace it. When
Only you stand as the point to spear wrong
In the heart, action proves the spirit's steel
And takes the ill apart. And if we live
To hear the tale then luck did spin the wheel.
But win or lose the die is cast, we give
Ourselves for real. It matters not the time
It takes, a moment or an hour, when
All is clear, results appear and sublime
Or damned its ours. Loudly does our action
Speak but louder still outcome. And when one
Stands, good in hand, then good in deed was done.
