For the competition the gates open at 12 a.m. Friday to Sunday
Saturday morning archers and participants under the age of 18 years can practice and qualify before 2 p.m.
Tournament starts at 2 p.m. both days.

Competition Setup

The gates open at 12 a.m. Saturday morning archers and participants under the age of 18 years can practice and qualify before 2 p.m. At 2 p.m. the tournament begins. There will be 20 shooting lanes, with the grandstands and viewers behind the lanes.  The archers will be divided into two categories, (modern bows and traditional bows), shooting 12 arrows, 15 yards away, at hay stuffed animals with bulls eye targets. We will do two rounds on Saturday with a combined score for 24 arrows. Your total score will determine whether you move on to shoot on Sunday!

Sunday morning, gates open at 12 a.m. The shooting roster will be posted. The top 16 archers from each category, (modern and traditional), will shoot 6 arrows, 15 yards away, at a three foot cross, out-lined with fruit on a hay bail backing. Points will be given on the fruit hit.  At the ends of the cross and in the middle will be larger fruit. A bonus will be awarded for the archer that can hit all four corners and the centre. We will do two rounds of this for a combined total score.

The finals will have the top four archers from each category shooting side by side, each with six arrows, shooting one after the other at a moving target, 15 yards away. The scores will determine the finalists’ place.

Time permitting we would like to have a shoot off of non competitors who have been shooting in the public lanes, four people total. Awards to be given immediately following the finals. Participant pins, prizes and awards for what I hope will be a wonderful event at the faire!
