Mysts of Avalon
Background History

The Isle of Standauffish had its roots in the online game,  "Legend of the Red Dragon" by Seth Able Robinson "The Bard". Since those early days we have grown, bringing our characters and legends to life.  The Faeries are of major importance to our very History, in fact are responsible for that History in a way. Beginning with the life restoring powers that renewed a Warriors strength in L.O.R.D, on through to the present day where they bring health, merriment, and love to all those associated with us, and final into the future when we build our Enchanted Realm, there will always be a special place for the Faeries. The History of the Isle has been recorded for those wishing to take the time to read. It is not complete, as it is a Living History. The Lady of Shalott, another Faerie tied to the Arthurian Legends has also been woven into our intricate tapestry. Read the Poem of Alfred Lord Tennyson, as sung by Loreena McKennitt.

The time period we are recreating here is roughly a thousand years after the “historical” fall of Camelot and King Arthur's death. Myths and Legends tell of this great King, son of Uthar Pendragon, and his exploits. This is today traditionally thought of as around the 14th century, with all the great Knights, though more properly, if there can be such a thing with a Legend, Arthur has been placed in the 5th century. And history finds a possible Arthur in the years after 500 AD, who may well have been the Arthur of Legend. Uthar Pendragon, another figure of legend, had a General that was well loved, and our Zorgon’s father, breaking with Welsh tradition, named his son after this great warrior, friend and loyal companion of an even greater King! It must also be remembered that King Arthur in 1500 was not a Legend, but British History. Even our King, Henry VII named his son after him, touting him as the new King Arthur.

The Faeries of our Realm can be found, by those who believe, in a Field of Flowers by a lake. But know also that they shall not reveal themselves to those that are not pure of heart and found worthy of help. If you are allowed to catch one, keep it with you, you will be restored to life and health when you need it most. Use this gift wisely because once bestowed by a kiss, the Faerie flies free, back to the Mysts.

Leaving the Village of LORD, this field is found riding past the Dark Cloak Tavern deep in the forest. It is here in the Field of Flowers that our story takes fold.
