Have aliens established secret underwater bases on our planet? Is it possible that an extraterrestrial civilization has co-existed with humanity for thousands of years? Numerous world wide sightings of USOs (Unidentified Submergible Objects) suggest extraterrestrial presence in our water.

In my previous article "UFOs and Space Travel" we explored how advanced spaceships can travel vast distances in space. This time we will dive into our oceans, lakes, and rivers and explore some underwater secrets.

USOs are interesting for several reasons. For one thing, these remarkable objects have demonstrated on several occasions that they are a product of someone familiar with highly advanced technology. Not only are USOs able to travel faster than any of our modern submarines, they are also capable of moving at tremendous speed across our skies. Therefore, it seems obvious that whoever constructed these high-tech vehicles possesses a technological knowledge that currently is superior to our own.

Exploring the Unknown Oceans

About 70% of our planet's surface is covered by water and 95% of our waters is still largely unexplored. Although, only a small portion of the oceans has been tapped, there is a growing interest in launching deep-sea expeditions and new advanced submarines. Perhaps, one day in the near future they will deliver us all the answers we are looking for.

The US Navy-owned Deep
Submergence Vehicle (DSV) Alvin
COMRA, the Chinese manned submarine will soon be able to go down as deep as 6000m. The US Navy is working hard on improving their legendary submarine Alvin. Alvin has been in operation since 1964 and has made more than 4,120 dives. Currently, Alvin can take a research crew at maximum depth of 4500m, but if everything goes according to the plans a new submarine will replace Alvin in 2009. The new US submarine will be able to carry a crew to a depth of 7000m.
Then we have Jason, a robotic submarine that can go down to 6000m and the Shinkai, a Japanese 3-passenger submersible capable of reaching a depth of 6550m.

The deepest place in any of the world's oceans, Challenger Deep off Guam was explored on January 23, 1960 by the US Navy mini-submarine Trieste that was especially designed to go very deep. This was a day to remember. Trieste set a deep-diving record going down as much as 35,810 feet. Since then, no submarine has come any closer achieving the same.

The coldness, darkness and pressure of the water make deep sea explorations extremely difficult. This image gives an idea of how deep down our modern submarines can reach and how much of the water is still unknown to us.

The truth is that we have even more data on our Moon than knowledge of our mysterious and full of secrets oceans.

Can we then with certainty claim that our waters do not harbor alien life? Surely, we must explore the possibility that our oceans can be home to an unknown alien race that has already constructed deep-sea vehicles, which we are currently in the process of developing.

Intelligent Underwater Beings

The link between modern USO sightings and the ancient world is vital and could provide us with clues to our origins and the alien underwater inhabitants.
Sailors and crew of military ships have frequently reported strange sightings like underwater bright lights and unidentified objects. Some of these sightings go back more than 100 years and some even further back in time, to the dawn of our modern civilization.

In my book "Voices from Legendary Times" I wrote a chapter about ancient flying machines and their highly advanced capabilities. Many ancient texts describe what we today would recognize as airplanes and spaceships.

It is important to stress that for example the ancient Indian texts mention how the Vimanas were also used for underwater expeditions. The Vailixi were also capable of not only flying in the air, but underwater as well. In my book, I also wrote a chapter about the "Intelligent Underwater Beings". These half-humanoid and half-fish beings played a significant role in the distant past. According to many ancient drawings, cuneiform tablets, and texts, they were human looking beings with feet, but they also had fish skin running down their bodies. They could live on land, but most of the time they resided in water, like mermaids.

Ancient cultures worldwide recall the amphibious beings as creators of our civilization.
The Chinese had their supernatural fish-gods like Fuxi and his wife. Fishes were sacred to the early Greeks and Romans who also worshipped the "Old Men of the Sea", like Poseidon. Trita sometimes also called Aptya was a water deity in the Indian pantheon. The worship of Oannes, the Lord of the Waves was widespread among the Babylonians. The American Indians believed the lakes, rivers, and oceans were inhabited by a group of mysterious people, who they referred to as "the Water Indians". In the Popol Vuh there is a reference to fishes that look like men.

"On the fifth day they appeared again and were seen in the water by the people. Both had the appearance of fish-men..."

The fish was also a sacred symbol in Christian tradition. Among early Christians, three fishes were used to symbolize the Holy Trinity. They were occasionally depicted as intertwined and sometimes shared a single head. It was a mystery to everyone, except for the early Christians, who associated the fish with Jesus Christ. The early Christians called themselves "Sons of the Celestial Ichtus", meaning sons of the great fish.

All these underwater beings had two things in common. They appeared in troubled times, when our planet was flooded with water, after the Great Flood. Furthermore, they were extremely intelligent and acted as teachers of mankind. They taught humans astronomy, agriculture, cosmology, mathematics, and many other things of value. The fish-men were often referred to as World Saviors.

Of course, it sounds a bit odd. How can a creature like a fish be a creator, teacher and a world savior? Were all our ancestors suffering from a delusion? Perhaps the answer is much more simple then we think. What if the ancient people did not refer to a real fish, but rather to something or someone that resembled a fish? The mythological beings had a fish-tail, but the upper body was human.
Berossus, pointed out regarding Oannes that "under the fish's head he had another head." Was it a helmet?
Is it not logical to assume that the deluge made it difficult to move freely around the planet and water suits were needed? This was most likely an extraordinary sight for the natives, a humanoid dressed in a diving suit, coming out of the oceans. This could explain why the ancient people described their remarkable visitors as amphibious beings.

The fish-men spent most of their time in the oceans, but could also move freely around the Earth. They were capable of flying and their vehicles were used as submarines as well.
This brings us to the modern sightings of Unidentified Submersible Objects, USOs.

Artificial Lights Deep in the Ocean

USOs have been spotted all over the world. The number of reported USOs cannot be compared with modern UFO sightings simply because our oceans are vast and mostly uninhabited by humans. Nevertheless, numerous important observations have been made in various countries.

An extraordinary incident took place when a UFO hit the water at Shag Harbour, Canada on October 4, 1967. This is probably the most significant Canadian UFO sighting. Brazil experienced a wave of UFO sightings in 1977-1978. Lieutenant Colonel Uyrange Holland who at the time served in the Air Force was sent to investigate the remarkable sightings. Together with a team of intelligent agents, Holland interviewed 300 UFO witnesses. Holland and his team were stunned when they discovered a huge disc-shaped object approximately 30 meters in diameter hovering above them.

"It was emitting a yellow glow that would grow and dim, every two or three seconds…about five times. As we watched, we could see small yellow and orange lights in the middle of it. And after the fifth time, the lights turned blue, dimmed - and then it disappeared with incredible speed toward the sea."

In USA, an interesting USO case was reported on November 6, 1973 when Coast Guard, encountered a strange unidentified submerged object in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Curiously, one month earlier, in October 1972 the famous Pascagoula abduction case occurred. Was it only a coincidence, or were these two events related to each other?
For more recent and fascinating USO sightings watch the video - Deep Sea UFOs.

The question remains: Is our underwater realm occupied by an alien civilization? If so, could these beings belong to the ancient alien race that visited us in the distant past?

Poseidon
In Greek mythology, Poseidon (Greek) was the god of the sea, as well as of horses and, as "Earth-Shaker", of earthquakes. The sea gods Rodon in Illyrian mythology, Nethuns in Etruscan, and Neptune in Roman mythology were sea gods analogous to Poseidon.

Dagon the Fish God
"Dagon was the god of the Philistines. This image shows that the idol was represented in the combination of both man and fish. The name "Dagon" is derived from "dag" which means "fish." Although there was a deep affection from Dagon's worshippers to their deity, the symbol of a fish in human form was really meant to represent  fertility and the vivifying powers of nature and reproduction.

The Babylonians had a myth that a being emerged from the Erythraean Sea who was part man and part fish and thus adopted the deity into their culture in their earliest days in history. Their have also been discoveries of the fish-god in the sculptures found in Nineveh, Assyria." - Source

Cybele
"The mitre on the head of the goddess Cybele is striking similarity to the 'fish head' of the God Dagon. The Great Goddess of Asia Minor is the oldest true Goddess known, predating the Goddesses of the Sumerian and Egyptians by at least 5,000 years. Cybele was worshipped in Rome and was also called the "Magna Mater", or the great queen mother goddess, which evolved into Catholic Mariology." - Source

Yemoja
"In Yoruba mythology, Yemoja is a mother goddess; patron deity of women, especially pregnant women; and the Ogun river (the waters of which are said to cure infertility). Her parents are Oduduwa and Obatala. She had one son, Orungan, who raped her successfully one time and attempted a second time; she exploded instead, and fifteen Orishas came forth from her. They include Ogun, Olokun, Shopona and Shango.Yemoja is also venerated in Vodun. Among the Umbandists, Yemoja is a goddess of the ocean and patron deity of the survivors of shipwrecks. In Santería, Yemoja is the equivalent of Our Lady of Regla." - Source

Olokun
"Olokun is experienced in male and female personifications, depending on what region and of West Africa He/She is worshipped. Olokun is personified in several human characteristics; patience, endurance, sternness, observation, meditation, appreciation for history, future visions, and royalty personified. Its characteristics are found and displayed in the depths of the Ocean. Its name means Owner (Olo) of Oceans (Okun)." - Source

Nommo
"The Nommo are ancestral spirits (sometimes referred to as deities) worshipped by the Dogon tribe of Mali, Africa. The word Nommos is derived from a Dogon word meaning, 'to make one drink'. The Nommos are usually described as amphibious, hermaphroditic, fish-like creatures.

Folk art depictions of the Nommos show creatures with humanoid upper torsos, legs/feet, and a fish-like lower torso and tail. The Nommos are also referred to as Masters of the Water, the Monitors, and "the Teachers. Nommo can be a proper name of an individual, or can refer to the group of spirits as a whole.

Dogon mythology states that Nommo was the first living creature created by the sky god Amma. Shortly after his creation, Nommo underwent a transformation and multiplied into four pairs of twins. One of the twins rebelled against the universal order created by Amma. " - Source

Enki or Ea
Sumer where kingship first descended from heaven.EA was thought to live in the 'Apsu' or submarine palace. Zoroaster can be seen above the amphibious gods.

Fuxi or Fu Hsi
"The Chinese have maintained that their civilization was founded by amphibious beings that had a man's head and a fish tail. The entity, named Fuxi, has been depicted as both male or female. The date traditionally ascribed to him is 3,322BC - again we are back to the same timeline as the ancient civilizations - Sumer - Egypt - Dogon."

Vishnu
"The six-sided or hexagram star is revered as a religious symbol by the Hebrews who call it the Seal of Solomon, and the Hindus who call it the Mark of Vishnu, a god-man who was half-man, half-fish. " - Source

Nereus
"Nereus was an ancient sea god with prophetic powers and the ability to change his shape. Nereus mated with one of the Oceanids (Doris) and became the father of fifty daughters called Nereids [nee're-idz]; three of these are important: Thetis [thee'tis], Galatea [gal-a-tee'a], and Amphitrite [am-fi-treye'tee]. Nereids are beautiful and often, but not always, depicted as mermaids; and usually they can shange their shape. "

Oannes
"The Repulsive or Repellent Ones - a demon - the fish-men who the Babylonians said brought them civilization. The first and most famous was called Oannes or Oe, who was thought to have come from a 'great egg'. This one during the day stayed on the surface among people, but for all the night he had to go into the sea. He, with other similar beings called Annedotus, is the creator of the Babylonian civilization (Berosso). Later Oannes will become the Fish-God for the Philistines. " - Source

Scylla
" Scylla is one of the two sea monsters in Greek mythology (the other being Charybdis) which lives on one side of a narrow channel of water. The two sides of the strait are within an arrow's range of each other, so close that sailors attempting to avoid Charybdis will pass too close to Scylla and vice versa. The phrase between Scylla and Charybdis has come to mean being in a state where one is between two dangers and moving away from one will cause you to be in danger from the other.

Traditionally the aforementioned strait has been associated with the Strait of Messina between Italy and Sicily but more recently this theory has been challenged and the alternative location of Cape Skilla in north west Greece suggested. " - Source

Proteus
"'Proteus' was an ancient sea-god and the herdsman of Poseidon's seals. Like the other sea-gods he had the gift of prophecy and the ability to change his shape at will. He used to rest in caves to 'shelter from the heat of the Sirius. He was a son of Neptune and subject to thesea god Poseidon, and his dwelling place was either the island of Pharos, near the mouth of the Nile River, or the island of Carpathus, between Crete and Rhodes. He knew all things--past, present, and future--but would not share his knowledge unless compelled by a captur who could restrain the God--no matter what forms he might assume. " - Source

Triton
"Triton, Son of Poseidon and Amphitrite, a Merman, human above the waist, fish-shaped below (many male deities of the deep are often so depicted). His most distinguishing characteristic was that he blew on a conch shell and thus he was known as the trumpeter of the sea." - Source

Sirens

Odysseus and the Sirens
"Sirens in the Water"
By Arthur Rackham
"In early Greek mythology, sirens were actually prophets and described as having bodies of a bird and beautiful human heads. Some ancient myths say the sirens are the daughters of the river Achelous and the Muse of dancing, Terpsichore the "Whirler." The numbers and names of the sirens are inconsistent in classical mythology.

Homer mentions two Sirens, but only names one, Himeropa ("arousing face"). Elsewhere, there was said to be three Sirens - Thelchtereia ("enchantress"), Aglaope ("glorious face"), and Peisinoe ("seductress").

In Italy, they were named Parthenope ('virgin"), Leucosia ("white goddess"), and Ligeia ("bright-voiced").

One of them played the lyre, another sang, and another played the flute - luring mariners to crash their ships into the rocks.

The Sirens had in earlier times been companions of Persephone before she was ravished by Hades. After having sought for her in vain, they prayed that they would grow wings, which the gods granted. They also prayed that they might not loose their tuneful voices, and that was also granted by the gods, and since then, it is said, they sing in unison with the music of the Moerae" - Source

Race with Mermaids and Tritons,Smithers
Mermaids
Mermaid: a legendary aquatic creature with the head and torso of a human female and the tail of a fish. The term "mermaid" is derived from the Latin root "mer" meaning "the sea" and "maid" coming from "maiden."

Mermaids are present in centuries of folklore, whether they be the "Sirens" of ancient Greek mythology who sang sweet sailors to their deaths, or the "Water Nymphs" who used their seductive powers on those fortunate enough to be lost at sea. The sea men become so enchanted and charmed, that they never returned to land again.

Iris
"In Greek mythology, Iris is the personification of the rainbow and messenger of the gods. As the rainbow unites Earth and heaven, Iris links the gods to humanity. She travels with the speed of wind from one end of the world to the other, and into the depths of the sea and the underworld." - Source

Osiris
"Osiris has never been shown with the body of a fish though one of his images depicts his mummified form looking much like the scales of a fish." - Source
