In 1600, the Dominican monk Giordano Bruno was burned on stake. What was his crime? He said life existed on other worlds in the Universe. Life doesexist on other planets. Ancient civilizations knew that thousands of years ago and unlike many of us today, they had no problems accepting this fact. Our ancestors knew that humanoids similar to us inhabited other planets. The ancient Indians said that Earth is only one among millions of other planets in the infinite Universe. Some of these planets resemble Earth and have a similar climate, mountains, and oceans. We are not alone in the Universe, but what can we say about our own planet? Since the Universe is home to millions of intelligent beings, it is logical to assume that Earth could have easily been visited by various alien species in prehistoric times. If this happened, then we naturally ask ourselves if there is any connection between the humanity and our remote extraterrestrial visitors. Is the human race perhaps a product of genetic intervention performed by highly advanced beings? Genetic engineering offers a solution to the highly focused change in human DNA, and explains the sudden appearance of the Homo sapiens. The process of combining features from the original genes, altered or newer ones could also easily account for the "extra" genes humans possess. 

Many recent archeological discoveries have provided evidence that great civilizations lived on Earth hundreds of thousands of years ago. Closer examinations of these archaeological findings clearly demonstrate that humankind has existed not only once, but rather several times. Different human civilizations have existed during different historical periods. We cannot easily dismiss this fact because it is obvious that someone was walking on this planet long before the first modern human appeared. Unfortunately, the scientific establishment is extremely fixed in its doctrines. New discoveries and alternative theories, which contradict and threaten the already well-established concepts, are by no means welcome. 

When debating the human race, historians tend to refer to the "ancients" as primitive people, who lived some thousands years ago. Apparently prior to 4,000 B.C., there are supposed to have been no advanced civilizations at all. That is of course completely wrong. The history of humanity goes much further back in time. We will therefore discuss events and races, which are hundreds of thousands, even millions years old. 

Conventional science always presents evolution of Earth and humankind as linear development. However, a majority of ancient sources describe the past ages as world cycles. Time is cyclical and the world, the humans, and all living beings have not been created once in the past, but are products of a continuous re-creation process performed and guided by higher individuals from outer space. The ancient men referred to them as gods.

Earth has been visited by extraterrestrial beings several times. Our creators and instructors came in ancient times from a distant place somewhere in the Universe and appeared on Earth, where they seeded life. In religious and mythological texts, this event is described as a time when "the gods descended from the heavens down to the Earth". During our planet's history, not one but several human races have been created by these wise spacemen. There was a time, in the beginning when the created humans were just as powerful as their creators. The extraterrestrial beings soon realized that they had committed a mistake by giving the humans so much intelligence and such great capabilities. A decision was taken to produce a more primitive man. Global cataclysms have destroyed the world many times, and after each catastrophic event, when there was almost nothing left, the extraterrestrials re-created the world and restored life on the planet. Techniques like electricity, aircraft and nuclear weapons seem advanced to us at present times, but these are no new inventions. Great civilizations were familiar with this type and even much more advanced technology thousands of years ago. The marks left by these people can be found all over the world. These signs reveal that people shared a universal scientific and technological knowledge. Their achievements are far beyond the present capabilities of man. Races of men have inhabited Earth for millions of years, but not all of them were human. 

Good is unfortunately often overshadowed by evil. For thousands of years, the Earth was a peaceful place, but then the wars began. Horrific wars broke out in which nuclear bombs were used. It led to the destruction of many sophisticated civilizations. Some thousands of years ago, the passage of a huge celestial body close to Earth caused a global destruction of unimaginable kind. The extraterrestrials fled the Earth, knowing that the cosmic catastrophe would lead to total extinction of all life. Marvelous civilizations perished, technological knowledge was lost and men became barbarians. Continents, islands, and cities were submerged. Ruins of ancient lost civilizations lie at the bottom of oceans, waiting to be discovered and investigated. They are the silent witnesses to the cosmic catastrophe, during which great fires broke out, huge earthquakes shook the world, volcanoes erupted, and a shift of the poles occurred. Some people who managed to survive this terrible disaster preserved the memory of the event. The few survivors remembered the great masters from the stars, our extraterrestrial visitors. People prayed to the stars, hoping that these superior beings would return, and so they did. The extraterrestrials returned back to Earth and became worshipped as gods. In chaotic times, they helped the humanity and created a civilized world. Civilization after civilization arose in the Old and New World. People were instructed in sciences like astronomy, mathematics, metallurgy and agriculture, just to mention a few.
Then one day, our gods left us. They promised to come back, and they will - when the next great catastrophe occurs and it is time to begin a new cycle. Life will be restored once again and a new race of men will inhabit Earth. Until then, we can read about the gods' presence on Earth in sacred ancient texts and admire the incredible monuments worldwide, which were raised with help of their technology.

In our search for the truth, we have to be open-minded, but at the same time critical. In order to avoid confusion, it is important to point out that when the term "god" is used throughout this book, it is a reference to an individual of extraterrestrial origin. 
This work has been greatly influenced by Erich von Däniken the father of the ancient astronauts theory. The study of Earth's ancient past has broaden my own views, and made me realize that the true meaning of god and human origins, is a much more complex subject than the religious and scientific establishment is willing to admit. 
This book represents in many ways an attempt to find out the connection between our gods - creators and the role various cataclysms have played in the distant past of our planet. 

Dear reader, together we will travel back in time and visit special places and meet the great masters of the stars. Let us begin our journey and listen to the voices from legendary times. .
