Welcome to my Castles, Abbeys and Medieval Buildings Web-site. This site is a record of Castles, Abbeys, Churches, and Manor Houses I have visit- ed in the UK.

          I shall be updating these pages as and when I visit new sites and I hope to be adding at least six new sites a year.

          Each update I will feature a new site with pictures and a brief history of the site and its owners. I shall also be adding a few of my own comments on the site, such as its condition, historical artifacts still surviving along with how I saw the site. E.g. Crowds, commercial activities and general ambience of the place.

          Also details of admission and hours of opening will be given, but, I accept no responsibility if these are not correct at the your time of your visit . Always check first before a visit ! In many cases sites will be closed during the winter months.

          If visiting from outside of the UK, a visitors pass can be obtained from the National Trust and English Heritage for the duration of your stay for sites owned by them only.

          Those visitors from the UK, I recommend joining one or both of the above bodies, it gives you unlimited access to the sites owned by them and is extremely good value for money.

          Many of the larger sites have special events during the Summer months such as Jousts, Falconry, Archery, Battle re-enactment and other interests particular to the site, again, check with the owning bodies beforehand.
